LOS ANGELES / January 27, 2025 – After a month-long jury trial, a Los Angeles County Superior Court jury recently found in favor of Ross LLP’s clients, Golden J Group, Inc. and J & J Freight Solutions, LLC (collectively, “Golden J”) in a trade secret and breach of fiduciary duty case. The dispute was between two freight-forwarding businesses. Golden J alleged that two former employees stole customer, driver, and pricing information to use in a competing business. Golden J received a total award of approximately $15 million, including punitive damages. The case was tried by Charles Avrith and Steven Stiglitz of Ross LLP.
“Jamie Huang, the founder of Golden J, built her successful freight-forwarding business from her garage, after immigrating to the United States with nothing. The defendants were her trusted employees, whom she personally mentored. So, this case was hugely personal to Jamie,” said Steven Stiglitz. “Jamie never lost faith that the jury would listen to her story, even though she needed to testify through a Cantonese interpreter. The jury paid close attention, took careful notes, and vindicated Jamie’s faith in them and in our judicial system.”
The case is J & J Freight Solutions, LLC et al. v. Li, et al., Los Angeles County Superior Court case 19GDCV01347.
